The climate

Undoubtedly the climate is the best of whole Europe. The sun shines frequently in the Algarve. An average of well over 3000 hours of sunshine is measured every year. Rain mainly falls in the autumn and in the winter, the number of rainless days lies above 300. The climate feels subtropical, despite the closeness of the Atlantic Ocean. As a matter of fact one can speak of a Mediterranean climate with mild winters and not all too warm summers. The average day temperatures fluctuate between 16˚ C in January and February and 28˚ C in July and August. The sommer heat is mitigated by the fresh sea wind.
